Settling up

We’ve all been there.  It’s been a great evening with your group of friends, the drinks have been flowing and food piling up.  It’s always a bit of a faff to accommodate the different choices within the group so it’s easy not to bother.  Who had a starter? Who isn’t sharing the wine? How to split costs if someone isn’t drinking?…Did John and Kate just get some shots?!!

It’s always more fun racking up the expenses than working out the bill split so at ALL IN we’re focused on delivering a solution that makes it easy to work out group expenses and settle debts all in
one app.

What is bill splitting?

It’s all about dividing costs fairly within the group.  Not everyone necessarily has the same budget or wants to spend the same amount in an evening.  We want to make sure that expenses are shared where they should be and it’s totally clear who owes what.

At ALL IN we have two simple suggestions for easily working out group expenses:

  1. Try our online bill splitter
  2. Download the ALL IN app which will not only allow you to work out costs but also provides payment services so you can settle debts easily.

If you’ve got an event that is running over a few days then the ALL IN app is particularly ideal.  It allows you to keep track of costs and how they should be shared by each activity.  So, for your next hen do, stag do or group weekend away with friends you can just add each expense in as you go.  This is preferable to having one person manage the kitty and on point for buying all the drinks.

If some of you split a taxi cost but others decide to walk to the restaurant, that’s fine, just add in the fare, who paid and who it should be shared between.

If most of the group go paintballing but two of you don’t fancy it, then that’s not a problem.  Just add the activity, who paid and who played and ALL IN will divide the expenses accordingly.

If three of you weren’t even there for the first evening of partying, then that’s OK too.  ALL IN’s bill splitter lets you divide costs quickly between those that were there and lets you join the shared expenses only once you’ve arrived.

Plan activities with ALL IN

There are loads out there to try so you don’t have to go with the ALL IN app.  For example, you could try Kittysplit, Splitwise, Billzer, Cost Split, Tricount, Settle Up, Splid and many more.  We haven’t tried them all but you’re not short on options so go check them out.  With ALL IN though, we’re trying to make sure you’ve got everything you need when organising your plans.  It’s more than just an app for working out group expenses.  Plan the activity, see who can make it, then add in the fees as you go.  When it comes to payment, you’ve then got another challenge in terms of getting people to pay which is something ALL IN can help with.

How do you split payments on a bill?

Cost details

In our research we’ve found there are nearly always people that are left owed money at the end of a group activity.  Even worse, it’s most likely to be the organiser that has put in all the hard work who ends up out of pocket.  People don’t mean not to pay what is owed but everyone is busy.  Once the group weekend is over it’s usually heads down and back to work.  When your mates don’t settle up their share of a bill then there’s always a risk of straining the friendship when chasing up what you’re owed.

So, with ALL IN we want to make it as easy as possible to manage sorting your group spending.  We make it easy to see who owes what and who hasn’t yet paid.  You can pay your share of the group bill directly through the ALL IN app and notify the group that you’ve paid, which should remind others if they still owe.  If the app nudges people until they’ve paid their share then there should be less risk of falling out altogether.
